My construction career began at age 13 when I was offered a job at a local hardward store. While working there, a customer offered me a job hanging storm doors. After gaining valuable experience in the Tool and Die Industry and at GM; I went to work for a company that built low income housing. That position entailed a wide range of responsibilities which led to new opportunities. When I was offered work to do board-ups for HUD, I formed a company and the rest is history. No undertaking is ever easy. With the assistance of mentors, clients, vendors, and valuable employees; we continued to learn and grow. Today our objective remains the same- to provide our clients with efficient, cost effective, and quality workmanship. In addition, we partner with our clients to achieve their goals.

I can be credited with developing partnerships with nationally established companies and the commercial renovation division of EJH Construction. From residential property recovery to completing multimillion-dollar renovations; I am proud of our reliability, quality workmanship, and the personalized attention we provide to each client. Fresh out of school, I was hired as an instructor of advanced type writing equipment for the Vari-Typer Corp. After 3 months, I was promoted to demonstrator/sampIe creator. That fall, I married John Sr. and we had four children in seven years. I was a busy stay at home mom for several years until accepting a receptionist position at a door manufacturer. Six months later, I went to work for a Fortune 500 Company, where I provided administrative support to thirty salesmen. In my ten years there, I advanced to their regional sales office. By this time EJH Construction, Inc. was growing and I was brought on as the third EJH employee. Through diligence, hard work, client involvement, and working alongside many valued employees; EJH has progressed and grown. Our intent is to provide efficient, cost effective, quality service to our clients enabling them to achieve their goals.

The safety of our team and the public is paramount. Every member of the warehouse team assists in inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and extending the life of our tools, remediation equipment, and vehicles. Because our vehicles travel the country with loads in the tens of thousands of pounds, EJH’s vehicles and trailers are D.O.T. compliant. Safety in our warehouse is as important as a safe fleet of vehicles. Our broad spectrum of building, construction, and remediation activities require extensive tool and equipment inventory management. As the Warehouse Manager, my positive attitude, energy, and multitasking skills allow us to get the job done in a fast pace environment while adhering to O.S.H.A. safety standards.

My introduction to the construction industry was at a very young age, the family business was in home improvements. With hands on experience I branched out into custom home renovations and Custom Home Building. This led to part ownership in a cabinet distributorship, then branching out into brand name window and door distribution as well. This laid the ground work for the next leg of the journey, Commercial General Contracting and eventually construction management.
Later managing companies for others, from top 50 roofing companies to large civil capital investment projects valued in the hundreds of millions.
All of this required me to live away from Michigan, where I was born and raised, but I always knew I would return to Michigan. The opportunity to join the EJH team was a great fit for someone like me and the current role of Director of Commercial Construction is very gratifying.
I’m a father of two and grandfather of 4. When I’m not working you can find me in Northern Michigan, enjoying the outdoors, if it has a motor I probably have one, if it’s on snow or water count me in.
